Loan Performer offers you the option to edit or change information regarding a particular user.
How to edit a user.
To edit a User you go to System/Configuration/Users and a screen like the one below shows up:
Click on the Edit button and a screen like the one below shows up:
Please note that this window does not allow you to change the user password. The field is not available. To change it you will have to go to System/Configuration/Users/Change user password.
From the User Name drop-down, select the user you would wish to edit ,e.g., "George".The variables for the selected user will be displayed in the various information boxes.
To edit the information, make the necessary changes and click on the Save button like below:
Address: Enter the address of the user, e.g., "P.o.box 7463 Kampala". Filling this field is optional.
Phone: Enter the telephone number of the user, e.g.,"+256772617879". This field is optional.
Bank A/C: Here enter the user's bank account, e.g., "01256000". This field is optional.
Sex: Select the gender of the client from the drop down box, e.g., "Male".
Function: Here you have to assign the user his/her function. Function defines the type of access rights given to a specific user. The access rights are set under System/Configuration/Set User Access Rights. Loan Performer has 11 predefined functions hierarchically listed below:

2. Branch Manager
3. Assistant Manager
4. Accountant
5. Accounts Assistant
6. Cashier
7. Loans Officer
8. Savings Officer
9. Teller
10. Clerk
11. Guest
Choose the appropriate function from the list in the drop-down box, e.g., "Accountant".
Please note that only a Supervisor and a Branch Manager have full access to the Loan Performer application, including the Configuration menu. The difference between these two functions is that the Supervisor has access to the Tools and the Supervisor's access rights cannot be modified. For the remaining 10 functions you can modify at System/Configuration User Access Rights.
Language: From the drop down list choose the user's language, e.g., "English". This means that when this user is logged into Loan Performer, all the screens will appear in the selected language. Other languages supported by LPF are French, Spanish, Russian. However, Loan Performer allows you to translate all the system labels into another language of your choice under the menu System/Configurations/Define Labels.
User Access enabled: This option enables you to activate or deactivate the user account by ticking or unticking the checkbox.
Please note that Loan Performer doesn't allow you to delete a user who has entered transactions under the menu System/Configuration/Users/Delete a User. You can only deactivate the account. Just untick the above checkbox to do it.
Maximum withdrawal amount an officer may handle: Enter here the maximum amount beyond which the selected user (Normally a cashier) will have to seek authorization from a higher authority to effect the withdrawal under the menu Savings/Savings Withdrawals e.g., "5,000,000/=. The persons to authorize withdraws beyond the cashier limit are set under the menu System/Configuration/Savings/ Accounts Settings and the authorization is done under the menu Savings/Approve withdrawals above cahiers limit.
Default Cash: Select from the drop down the Cash Account that the user will most frequently be using, "Cash account". It will appear as the default cash account for transactions carried out by this user.
This Account only: Tick this checkbox to limit this user to the selected account only. If you want the user to have access to other cash accounts leave this checkbox unticked.
Access allowed for the following, other cash account(s): You can select other cash accounts to which a user can have access to if required. This is done by holding down the mouse while dragging it downwards to highlight the accounts to be accessed by the user.
Password valid from: Here you have to define the number of days (from 1 to 999) for which the user's password will be valid, starting from the current system date, e.g., "18/08/2016 for 999 days". After the given period, the password will expire and the user will not be able to log into the program until you change it. It is advisable that institutions password validity period be kept short (30-90 days) so that the can be changed from time to time to avoid fraud.
Past entries up to: This option allows you to limit the user's ability to enter back-dated transactions. For example, if you enter "0" days, the user, when logged in, will only be able to enter/modify/delete the current day’s transactions and "2" means he or she can enter/modify/delete the current day’s transactions and those of two days back. Otherwise you will get the following validation message:
Time out in minutes before LPF closes: Enter the time (in minutes), e.g., "10" that Loan Performer should take when open and idle before it can log off automatically.
Background: Here you can choose the background for the Loan Performer application. Click on the ellipsis buttons to browse and choose the file containing the background picture.
Note that, by default, Loan Performer uses the Crystal Clear logo as a background. If you don’t want any background image, leave the text-box empty.
Amount format: Select the format in which amounts will be displayed from the drop down box, e.g., "English". written as example 1,000.00
Can add a client: Tick this checkbox if the user is allowed to add a new client in the organisation under the menu Clients.
Can add a client: Tick this checkbox if the user is allowed to edit client information in the organisation under the menu Clients.
Log menu access: This feature is used to monitor users' access to the menu items. If you mark this checkbox, the User Log Report at System/User Log Report will show the users who had logged into the program in the specified period, the menu items accessed and the time of access. If the checkbox is not marked, the User Log Report will only show the users who had logged into the program in the specified period and the login time.
Default menu: It helps the user to immediately access the most frequently used menu item on login into the program, e.g., "for Accounting" Menu for Accountants". Simply select the required item from the drop-down list box by double-clicking on it. If you don't want to have any default menu item, select "None" from the list.
Maximum Loan Approval: Here you enter the maximum amount that the new user is authorized to approve under Loans/Loan Approval, e.g., "8,000,000"..
Maximum overdraft amount that a user can approve: Enter here the maximum amount that the selected user can be able to approve under Savings/Overdrafts/Approve Overdrafts e.g "500,000"
Users Current Branch: From the drop-down select the branch to which the user belongs, e.g., "KA".
Fingerprints Capture: LPF provides for user to log in using either a password or finger prints. If the user is required to login using fingerprints rather than a password then click on fingerprints capture the following screen will appear:
Note that: i) This can only be possible if the fingerprint capture software has been installed and the settings made at System/Configuration/Fingerprint scanning. ii) You will also be required to have a finger print license.
If the finger prints of the user are not captured the Left thumb and Right thumb fields will indicate "Not in file". However if they were earlier on captured this field will appear as below:
Left thumb: "In file" for the Left thumb meaning the finger prints have been captured and saved.
Right thumb: "In file" for the right thumb meaning the finger prints have been captured and saved.
Automatic Capture: When this option is activated the fingerprint capture will scan immediately a thumb is placed on top of it automatically.
Sensitivity: The sensitivity level will appear here as configured under System/Configuration/Fingerprint Scanninge.g "5". The value can only be changed if you activated the check box that allows the user to change it in your configuration.
Brightness: The brightness level will appear here as configured under System/Configuration/Fingerprint Scanninge.g "30". The value can only be changed if you activated the check box that allows the user to change it in your configuration.
Contrast: The contrast level will appear here as configured under System/Configuration/Fingerprint Scanninge.g "10". The value can only be changed if you activated the check box that allows the user to change it in your configuration.
Quality: The quality of the of the finger prints will be as configured under System/Configuration/Fingerprint Scanninge.g "80". The finger prints quality can only be changed if you activated the check box that allows the user to change it in your configuration.
Capture Image: Place your left thumb on the scanner the prints marks will be displayed and click Capture Image at the top left corner. The quality of the fingerprint will be displayed and if satisfactory you can capture the left thumb the second time and you will have completed the left fingerprints capture. If you are not satisfied with the quality, you can as well refresh so as to start over. You can choose to Refresh Left to refresh only the left Image or Refresh Right to refresh only the right image or you can Refresh All.
Capture Image: Place your Right thumb on the scanner the prints marks will be displayed and click Capture Image at the top right corner. The quality of the fingerprint will be displayed and if satisfactory you can capture the right thumb the second time and you will have completed the right fingerprints capture. If you are not satisfied with the quality, you can as well refresh so as to start over. You can choose to Refresh Left to refresh only the left Image or Refresh Right to refresh only the right image or you can Refresh All.
You can now click Return and the system will store the finger prints in file. Any attempt to capture the same finger prints the second time will be rejected by the system as they will be saved/ stored.
At login using the finger print, enter the User name e,g "John", tick the option fingerprint, the Password field will be deactivated.
Click the OK button and the finger verification screen appears as below:
Capture the finger prints and if they match those stored for the user LPF allows the user to log in.
